Choosing a CMS: SEO

Type your company name into Google. Where does your company show up in the results? Is it the first result? Is it halfway down the third page?
No matter your business plan or industry, a top result on a search engine can lend your company credibility and prestige. Your customers will treat top results as the best matches available, regardless of whether that is actually the case.
Joe Smith's company selling helium balloons is #1 on Google, and your company, Balloons Aplenty is #16. You have more locations, sales, inventory and staff than Joe, but for some reason you results don't reflect your success. A simple reason for this might be that you haven't optimized your site for search engines. If you haven't included keywords that represent your business or a description of your webpage, it's much harder for search crawlers to find your site.
SEO is a gargantuan factor to consider when choosing a CMS platform. After all, you want your site to be number one in results and attract customers, potential employees and investors.
Open source solutions offer varying levels of SEO integration. Some offer advice as to how best optimize for SEO in documents or discussion forums. There's no single path to follow, which can be confusing when trying to best optimize your site.
Search engines like Google, Bing and even YouTube are continuously updating complex (and secret) algorithms to ensure that they are delivering the most relevant search results. Everyone has heard how valuable content, linking, keywords, META descriptions etc. are to improving your rankings. Good SEO advice and research is invaluable but we believe that your CMS platform has to allow you to easily and actively implement your SEO strategies.

Your CMS should take the guesswork out of SEO. Our Live CMS provides easy-to-access, relevant META data fields on every content page. Simply enter your page name, vanity URL, title, keywords and description, optimize your copy with well researched keywords and links and you'll be well on your way to top rankings. Simple, easy and effective!
