WordPress Run Out of Ink?

Now Magazine writer Joshua Errett's article about the concentration of WordPress usage in Canadian media may be overly alarmist and a bit silly (as with the example of the printing press running out of ink) however he does bring up a good point about some of the issues tied to WordPress.

Much like the mid 90's when viruses were almost exclusively written for windows machines because of the near domination of the market, WordPress is also a victim of its own successes by becoming the target of hackers. While the open-source platform does allow for your IT person to find solutions to common problems, it's harder for smaller companies who don't have an IT staff to respond quickly and resolve complex problems.

Errett suggests that media companies should create a homegrown system that "gives publishers complete control and employs the talents of local web developers." We say that there may already be a solution available to companies interested in a secure, flexible and scalable content management solution.
